5th Grade Enrichment
The Enrichment Program is really the foundation of the PTG, offering classroom experiences and field trips throughout the year that elaborate and enhance the school curriculum. Enrichment activities for the 5th grade this year include the following:
Birds of Prey
Wing master, Julie Ann Collier, brings several of her rescued/recovering birds of prey with her to GES. She educates students about birds of prey. Fun is had by all in this day of learning.
Techsploration Simple Machines
This program is an interactive program showing all of the different simple machines and their uses. Can a student really lift their teacher using a lever? How were levers used in medieval warfare? How can you control force using gears and pulleys?
Colonial Day
This is a day where all of 5th grade dresses up like they are from the colonial time and play games and do crafts from that period.
We the People
This is an American civic lesson put to music. Students will learn more about the three branches of government, the First Amendment, presidential elections, democracy and the judicial process, through a variety of musical styles including rock, rhythm-and-blues, and hip-hop.
Sturbridge Village Field Trip
This is a field trip where your children get to step back in time and see what it was like back in colonial days …They will play games and see how people lived and participate in a "Hands on in History“ day long enrichment program.
