Meeting Minutes – January 10, 2012
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm. Present were Karen Salvatelli, Tara Carelli, Lisa Rancourt, Joanne Stocklin, Ron Tomlin, two parents and three teachers.
Secretary’s Report: The Secretary’s report and minutes from November 8, 2011 were reviewed and approved by a unanimous vote.
Treasurer’s Report: The Treasurer’s reports from 11/1/11 – 12/31/11 were reviewed and approved by a unanimous vote.
Principal/SAC Report:
Old Business/Committee Updates: Spaghetti supper was postponed and the board will discuss a new date. Entertainment Books: seems to be complete and will discuss if this should be considered for next year. Movie night will be on February 10th at 6:30pm – no pizza to be sold, just candy and drinks. There was discussion of giving the kids three movie choices and have them vote for the movie to be shown that night. BJ’s Wholesale Club information is still being processed but should be set on or before January 18th. National Grid brought in much more money than budgeted – we sold over $6,400. Some orders still need to be picked up – if you placed an order that you have not picked up, please do so ASAP.
New Business: Enrichment a request for funds was made for a 4th grade enrichment program – a field trip to “Born to be Wild” at the IMAX Theatre. Tentative date would be May 14th as long as that works with the MCAS testing schedule, otherwise a new date will be looked at. This will be added to the agenda for a vote at the next PTG meeting. Staff Basketball Game: is on March 23rd. Preparations are well underway – staff practices are being held, donations are being solicited, raffles and baskets are being worked on. 325 tickets have been pre-sold as part of the One Time Donation program and 200 will be sold to staff & their families for a total of 525 pre-sold. We can only sell 900 tickets total, so the remaining tickets will go fast.
District Reorganization: The PTG boards for the Elementary Schools and GES will be meeting as a group to discuss the upcoming changes.
Next meeting will be Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 7:00pm.
Meeting adjourned at 7:34pm
Respectfully submitted,
Lisa Rancourt
Assistant Secretary

Principal/SAC Report:
- Classroom Holiday Parties & All School Meeting – Festive week before the holiday break! Students enjoyed classroom luncheons and parties. Some shared family recipes or traditional foods from the students’ cultural backgrounds. The school community enjoyed the All School Meeting on Thursday, Dec. 23rd. We were entertained by the 4th & 5th grade choruses as well as the advanced band. The assembly concluded with the first of what will be an annual tradition – an all school holiday sing-a-long.
- Looking forward to what I hope to be the first of regular Principal’s Coffees tomorrow morning at 8:30am in the library.
- PE Department is organizing the American Heart Association’s Jump Rope for Heart the week of February 13-17.
- This is the week MCAS materials are ordered! Yea!
- SAC Meeting is 1/11/12. The policy handbook is being reviewed and new goals will be aligned.
